J.JS Lee is another of the NEWGEN designers showing in The Portico Rooms this LFW. I hugely enjoyed her presentation this morning; full of easy shapes, interesting necklines and details and 20s dropped waists, done sportily.

In the show notes, it said that Lee had seen her niece eating candy floss and decided to attempt replicating the shimmer effect in her fabrics. She developed a new technique, using a multitude of needles to 'stamp' the fabric with yarn to create this the candy quality.

I've seen this alternate length hemline at a few shows now. And I really like it. Image from catwalkqueen.com |
Jackie told me that her clothes 'are definitely not for a young, punky girl'. In fact, they seem the antithesis of that and she admits that the woman she is designing for is always changing. Jackie was adamant that the woman in her mind would play tennis. Twenties shapes work well for her because she prefers clothes loose and masculine- she clearly cares deeply about her clothes functioning for a busy wearer. She wears her own clothes which is really the perfect way to test one's ideas.
